Now part of Philips; PathXL was originally an offshoot from the Pathology department of Queens University Belfast. PathXL grew into a multinational company with offices in the UK and the US and supporting over 40,000 users. Offering services such as slide scanning, to bespoke pathology software, they remained a global driver in Digital Pathology before being acquired by Philips.

During 2016 PathXL was acquired by Phillips and now form an important part of Phillips Digital Pathology Services Department. Following this acquisition, Phillips have decided to rebrand PathXL as being part of the Phillips DPS division.

Mitra Innovation assisted PathXL in the build of the PathXL Tutor (a powerful virtual slide educational management system for creating and viewing course materials and managing students, trainees or residents). Mitra Innovation also helped them integrate to Athena, the digital pathology workflow manager developed by Noemalife.

“The team at Mitra Innovation are a pleasure to work with. Their technical ability, responsiveness and ability to work within PathXL processes and coding standards ensured that we successfully delivered our first joint project together inside the required time frame. The team at Mitra are a great (and fun) group to work with!“
